Look inside the doorknob hole and locate the latching mechanism.
Garage door handle fell off.
Loosen and remove the nuts on.

This will cause the knob on your side of the door to come off.
The locking mechanism on the house door handle might fail to properly open and latch the door.
Step 3 remove the t handle retaining screws from the outside of the door with a phillips screwdriver.
Remove the ends of the stranded cable from each lock mechanism at the outer edges of the garage door.
Release the tab or button remove the inside doorknob by locating the button like our model metal tab or wire clip on the side of the knob that acts as a release.
You can save money by repairing this problem instead of purchasing a new door or hiring a carpenter.
Slide the lock box off the square shaft protruding through the garage door from the t handle.

Using an awl or small screwdriver push the button in all the way and at the same time pull off the handle.
The garage door wire cable can come off of the drum pulley spool which can be quite frustrating to repair.
Slide the lock box downward and away from the protruding end of the t handle retaining screw.
The knob on the other side of the door is no longer attached either so it will be loose and eventually will fall off.
Close the garage door.
Unscrew the two screws if you re on that side of the door using a cross tip screwdriver.
Turn the handle so it s vertical in the locked position.
Move to the inside of the garage.
